Does Tallow Smell Like Meat or Beef Fat?

It’s a fair question - and one we hear a lot.

Raw suet can have a meaty scent, especially if it's poorly rendered or comes from grain-fed animals. But at VAER, we use only grass-fed, grass-finished beef fat, and we render it slowly and gently - three times - to remove any odor while preserving the nutrients your skin craves, creating tallow.

The result? A clean, neutral base with no trace of animal scent.

From there, we enhance each balm with therapeutic-grade essential oils - not just for fragrance, but for their healing benefits and emotional resonance. Each blend is formulated to elevate the experience without irritating sensitive skin.

So no - it doesn’t smell like dinner. It smells like a moment of care.
